Finishing Sanding Empty
PostSubject: Finishing Sanding   Finishing Sanding EmptyThu Nov 21, 2013 10:15 pm

At the November 20th, 2013 meeting, Paul mentioned sharing what we use to finish sand turnings.  I use Abranet is a mesh abrasive.  The abrasive comes in disk or square sheets made with small holes just like a screen or plumber's cloth. The holes in the mesh help clear dust and keeps the abrasive from clogging and provides efficient sanding of the turning's surface.  I also use make-up removal sponges as a pad to help keep the heat off my fingers from the friction while sanding a piece on the lathe.  It works quite well.
