The Charlestowne Woodturners are meeting at JMO Woodworks, 70 Romney St., Charleston, SC 29403. On the 3rd Wednesday night of each month from 6:30pm-9:00pm.

I know, I sort of had a leg up on the ring thing, since I already had a small handful of them at the last meeting. I haven't been sitting on my hands though. Came up with this today. Dogwood and Bloodwood.

How are your rings coming along? Ring5

I've discovered a great way to finish them. Just get a small covered container, put an inch of brushing lacquer in, and drop the completed ring in. Let soak for a while. You might even leave it overnight for deep penetration. Retrieve the ring, and wipe off the excess with a soft cloth. If you have streaks, a little work with 0000 steel wool will remove them. Buff if desired after it dries. Let's see your progress.

Doug, I got 2 almost done, but I am making mine abour 1/4 in wide or smaller. Just got a few things yet to develop. but they will be done by meeting night.

Stacking up the rings on the lathe is time consuming, but fun.
